It's Valentine's day, maybe you're skint, wary of shelling out large amount of dough on an uncertain beau, have a guy who likes to eat and appreciates gifts that aren't just bought in a store, or you merely choose to express yourself through baked goods, but cookies are great. Therapeutic for the maker too...

I used this recipe, by Jill Dupleix. Baked up a half recipe after an hour and the other half a day later, it was great.

Heart-shaped cutters, I got from Divertimenti, a kitchen shop on Marylebone High Street, awesome place which also has a cafe and cookery classes which I wish I could afford.

So... the recipe... before baking.....

Ginger Hearts pre-oven

And after baking...

Ginger Hearts cooling

Decorate however you like, I did some with pink glace icing, some with chocolate, and jelly sweets on top. Pretty much anything sugary and colourful and that'll be fun cos you and I know that the best Valentine's days are the ones that you spend with the GIRLS!!!!!!
